Whimsical Item of the Day

Today's item of the day comes from Shabby Apple. This skirt is not for the faint of heart, but if you dare to take the risk, this skirt is frill, feminine and a standout piece. I am well aware this won't be catering to many a gal, but I feel like there are many people this piece would speak t, so if you have the guts and want the glory, go for it! I would pair this with a very soft top, because that skirt certainly speaks for itself!

Garden Item of the Day

Guess what I found, gals! It's a site that has clothes that you can customize yourself called eshakti-- that means you can make things that are not modest, modest! That includes sleeve length, hem length and collar shape. Awesome, right!? How you ask? Well, it took me a minute or two to figure out the gist of this website, but the step by step process given seems easy enough! Pretty much they have a basic sample that you work off of; you can buy the item as shown, OR you can scroll down and add various elements (all different depending on the item). Want a longer hem? Specify 'below the knee'! Want a 3/4 sleeve? Just make that tank dress into a dress with sleeves! Are you dying yet?

So, I found this adorable dress on the site, and boo for us, because the extent of the alterations (each alteration/customization costs an additional $7.50) only extends to short sleeve, not long or 3/4. I was kinda bummed about that, but it's still a pretty cute dress for the springtime, and not outrageously priced, either. Each dress is customiable to an extent-- not all dresses can have sleeves added, for example. But hey, we're in the right direction. Points for the frummies!

Modest Hollywood: Oscars 2012 Vanity Fair Party

Welcome to this very special edition of Modest Hollywood! If you thought the red carpet was hot, take a look at the vanity fair red carpet! With a slew of celebs, starlets, and hunks galore, the vanity fair party (as well as Elton John's Oscar party) was the place to show or the hottest modest dresses! There is not a single one of these gown I don't absolutely LOVE, except Miley Cyrus-- I don't think she was informed that the 80's theme got cancelled this year. #GoodbyeShoulderPads NO question though, Lily Collins and Elizabeth Banks are BY FAR my favorites. I'll be dreaming about thise gowns for a very long time.

This blouse from the Kardashian's QVC collection is SO perfect for the upcoming season! I relaly see this blouse on every frummie for Passover. Now, it is sheer, but that's were coverage underneath comes in, so I leave that to your own comfort level and discretion, but both the blush color and the black are super adorable for spring. Click the link below and go watch the video of the Kim Kardashian modeling the top herself, as well as some other models. Oscars 2012 - Best Dressed!

These ladies were by far the most beautiful and glamorous of the night! Jessica Chastain walked on that red carpet and OWNED it! Such a risk, such a sophisticated look, and she worked it! Michelle Williams was breathtaking in that coral-colored peplum LV gown, and Stacey Kiebler was radiant in Marchesa!  Sandra Bullock is a leader of the pack tonight, and Angelina was, naturally, Angelina. I hate to love her, but in this case, how can you not?

Jessica Chastain
There is not one thing I don't love about this gown. Alexander McQueen's creation is probably the most avante garde dress on the carpet, but it is so sophisticated and elegant-- quite possibly one of my favorite Oscar gowns ever.

Michelle Williams
Her demureness is so endearing and I love that she took the risk with a bold color. This dress reminds me of something Penelope Cruz would wear, but it flatters Michelle's figure so perfectly and I just love how she works it!

Stacey Kiebler
This is the first time I will ever say I wish George Clooney would just get the hell out of the way! This Marchesa dress is so utterly fascinating and it makes my heart sing with delight! It's the epitome of elegance, class and modernity. I found my other hald, and it's that dress. I'll take George Clooney, too, but only as a close second.

Sandra Bullock
This gown is so beautiful and it literally captivates me. Like my earlier post said, black & white is usually what makes a classic gown, and Sandra took it to a whole new level. I'm simply enamored with this and it's probably my second favorite of the night.

Angelina Jolie
Her hair, her make-up and her gown are a complete package this time. She is certainly wearing the velvet and it's not wearing her. The origami-like design is so sharp and fabulous. True glamour!

Oscars 2012 - Worst Dressed

Oh me, oh my. Shailene-- what were you thinking? I am obviously not one to brush of a modest dress, but hers was just so God-awful. The rest of these were not the best, that's for sure. Unfortunate cases of bad styling.

Shailene Woodley
Her awards season started out so bright and ended with a such a belly flop that it hurts! This is the saddest dress I have ever seen on a young woman.

Natalie Portman
I really strongly dislike this dress. The silhouette is just ok, pretty even, but that print is so bad for the Oscars. Yuckity yuck.

Judy Greer
I feel like there are so many other ways she could have gone, but this just seems like a bad combo of futuristic and classic.

Anna Faris
I really just wish this just didn't eat her alive. It's not the worst of the worst, but the sleeves are bunching and are way too long, and it's not as fabulous as it should be.

Oscar 2012 - COLOR!

So much green! Color in general certainly made its presence on the carpet tonight, but green, red, and purple that made loudest statements of all. But above all, Jessica Chastain's Alexander McQueen gown with the deep, golden pop of embroidery is stellar.

Jessica Chastain
Hint hint: one of my best for the night. It's dramatic, it's a risk, it's beautiful. I can't get enough of this gown and I commend her for FINALLY getting it perfectly right!

Viola Davis
This woman works her assets! While it's far from my favorite dress, it's still stunning, especially on her! She makes the dress, although I think she has had some better looks throughout the season.

Maria Menunos
Soft, sea foam green looks sophisticated and classy on her. A dress we have certainly seen before, but still beautiful.

Berenice Bejo
I adore this dress! It's really unconventional, but it has so much charm and old HOllywood glam. Disappointed in the hair though. Wompity womp.

Glenn Close
WOAH. She proves that women of any age can kill it! AMAZING.

Missi Pyle
Meh. Underwhelmed.

Penelope Cruz
Such a departure from what she usually wears, but I think I kinda love it. Then again, she's Penelope Cruz, so what's not to love?

Michelle Williams
One of my favorite dresses of the season!! Michelle hit the nail on the head with this Louis Vuitton gown, and she exudes pure glamour! Feel free to drool on the way to the next picture.

Emma Stone
I never have a bad thing to say about this lady, and that's not about to change. This dress is chic and adorable, and while it was a risk for the Oscars, I think she makes it work. LOVE!

Jane Seymour
Another lady from the older contingent, another jaw dropping dress. Young Hollywood, take note!

Natalie Portman
BEcause she is a fellow Jewess, I feel the words "oy vey" would not be completely inappropriate to use here. I feel like her gowns have gotten more and more odd with time, and I am really starting to get confused about her look. Somewhere, Kenley Collins from Project runway is smiling with Polka Dot Gods.

Virginia Madsen
Step it up. This is a beautiful dress-- for the Globes. She could have done so much better and so much more.

Maya Rudolph
This dress is pretty but it doesn't seem like a Maya Rudolph dress. I wold have liked ot have seen her in something a bit different, but it works.

Sarah Hyland
Young HOllywood, playing it safe.

Gwyneth Paltrow
It's not exactly color, but white had it's moment tonight too. Gwyneth took a HUGE risk tonight with this caped gown, and I gotta say that I don't hate it. In fact, I love it. Sometimes, it's all about the right risks!

Shailene Woodley
I died when I saw this dress. I did not go to heaven. This is just terrible.

Rooney Mara
Not in love. Kind of just whatever.

Kristen Wiig
I love that hair and make up. The dress is fine--it's been done before--but otherwise, a nice look. Just nice though.
