Sophisticated Item of the Day

A new twist on a an old classic. Gotta love when you can take something as simple as black and white, and turn it into a chic piece. Check out this adorable blouse from ASOS. It's so super cute and would look great tucked in (up to the black pleats) or left untucked. It is classic black and white, and the business up is sophisticated and expensive looking; I feel like this is what you wear when you want to pretend you're wearing Chanel or look like you're wearing something extremely designer and expensive, but it's only 60 bucks. It's thoughtfully designed, will look great on lots of body types, it transcends seasons, and it will never go out of style. Ever. So get on this ladies and make this happen.

PS Since it's ASOS, don't forget to click the link below to watch how this walks down the runway. They video all their item so you can see how it moves in real life. This just happens to move like a dream. LOVE ASOS!

Graphic Item of the Day

Oh yes! I simply adore dresses, and am constantly looking for practical, trendy and fun dresses that make the modest cut. Voila! This dress from LOFT is so amazing and perfect for fall because it has all the right colors, comes in a fantastic print that would look good on ALL body types, is perfectly modest, and would look stellar with camel colored accessories (think boots and bags!). This dress would be perfect for the office or for shul. It's so expressive but still classic and chic, and because that print has so many different size gradients, it will really flatter all body types. And all those colors will be sure to complement most skin tones, if not all! What's even cuter, it that the top of the dress is meant to resemble a blouse, so this dress has all the potential for the making of a professional, sophisticated woman. Plus, if you go in to LOFT today, dresses are 30% off. BONUS!

Staple Item of the Day

Hello utilitarian! I simply love basic pieces that are wear-all and functional, and that's what this blouse is. I personally own this silky (but not silk) blouse in white and wear it on a weekly basis with all my different skirts. It definitely doesn't look like it's from Old Navy, which is why I can afford to pair it up with some of my higher-end skirts for work and still look chic, and the more casual look (with the pockets and the buttons stopping midway) make the outfits way more interesting.

Any working professional woman who does not have a white blouse in her closet is doing something very wrong, so best correct that with this piece here. It does come in  three other colors though that are a lot more fun, so if you are in the mood to integrate a whole lot of color for only 25 bucks, then this is the way to do it.Wear it with the cuffs rolled down, or roll them up for a cool and casual look-- you just can't go wrong with this blouse at this price!

What's New on My Pinterest

I'm thinking of making this a regular feature since I spend about as much time on Pinterest as I do blinking. OK, well that's a lie, because I work. But still, a free moment is a Pinterest moment, and you can quote me on that.

Today I wanted to feature you some of the pins from my Modest Street Style board (click there for the link). These are regular (and some not so regular) ladies who walk the streets like you and I do, only they tend to do it in Chanel (or some designer variation of the sort)-- or they are just totally bad-ass. You gotta give props to the woman who walks out her door with an "I-Will-Conquer-The-World-One-Stilett-At-A-Time" attitude. Which of these ladies is your favorite?

Make sure you follow me on Pinterest http://pinterest.com/the_oak/!

Ruffle Item of the Day

Well, you just can't say no to a little black anything, and in this case it's a little black skirt. Bonus points for a skirt that has all the design and style in itself, because now you don't need to even think about what to wear on top. Any top in any color in almost any material during any season would look fabulous with this skirt. I love that this ruffle is not a full peplum, but still stays in line with that peplum trend. There are a lot of women out there who don't like the peplum because they feel it highlights the horizontal parts of their bodies (which is not accurate--it hides it, in fact), so this skirts is kinda the answer to that. Consider it the hybrid peplum, if you will; both vertical and horizontal, and friendly to women everywhere. So for all you ladies who need another black pencil skirt, make sure it's the one with all the personality.

Modest Hollywood

Don't you just love a good covered-up celeb? I know, me too. I have to tell you, it's actually quite fun hunting down all the celebs of the week who made the modest cut, and these ladies are no exception.  You can certainly tell these women are trying to squeeze in the last glorious days of summer with their flowy and light clothing; but be wary, sweaters are a plenty in this post, and Fall is a comin'! I don't want to talk about it. While I love ALL these ladies, my OAKie goes to Nicole RIchie-- I positively love that killer outfit.

On another note, I must say that my proudest moment of this post came from spelling Camilla "formerly Alves" McConaughey's last name right WITHOUT googling it first. This was a major accomplishement for me, so allow me to revel in this glory for a moment. First, I would like to thank my Mom for passing down to me her stellar spelling skills; thanks Mom. I couldn't have done this without you. Next I would like to thank the McConaugheys for providing such a challenging last name and giving me the opportunity to stretch myself further than I thought I could go. You provided a formidable challenge, but you let me rise to the occasion in ways I never thought possible, and for that I thank you. And to the Starbucks Venti Passion Iced Tea Lemonade, sweetened that is currently in my hands giving me the courage to recite this speech to you. Thanks. And lastly I want to thank God. Because apparently anytime you experience a glorious moment in Hollywood, you point up and thank God. It's what all the celebs do in their acceptance speeches, so when in Rome. Thanks God (pointing upwards).
