I was so underwhelmed by last night's Oscar fashion and I couldn't help
but be disappointed by the choices the women selected. So, I took it
upon myself to become their woulda-coulda-shoulda stylist and I
prescribed three dresses that each nominee SHOULD have worn.
What she wore: Givenchy Black Lace Gown
Why it didn't work: This was the best she has looked all season, but she definitely could have pushed it some more.
What she wore: Chanel Nude Metallic Gown
Why it didn't work: Obviously this woman has an amazing body and would look good in anything. But considering that this nude metallic was the trend of the evening, Jessica did not pull it off as well as others. We have seen this dress a thousand times before. Go bold!
What she should have worn: Tell me you don't think the following dresses wouldn't have looked AMAZING on her, especially compared to the ho-hum frock she wore last night. Jessica Biel is no stranger to bold colors, which is why I chose that phenomenal Lela Rose gown. I also love the yellow Elie Saab, which is a far more muted, but still colorful gown. And that purple Badgley Mischka would have taken her skin tone to a new level of awesome.
Idina Menzel
Julia Roberts

What she should have worn: That Valentino she wore when she won with Erin Brokovich was pretty much the best she's ever looked. I would have loved to see her go bold in the Valentino below, but I understand that she may have been going for something more conservative, which is why the other two gowns, while drastically different, would have been beautiful and age appropriate.

Idina Menzel
What she wore: Green Vera Wang
Why it didn't work: Talk about a dress just swallowing you whole! This is not her best look and for a woman who is supposed to be the Ice Queen, Idina should have rocked a more majestic look.
What she should have worn: I included both icy looks and a dramatic deep colored one. The Chanel gown below would have hugged her so beautifully, and that model does not do the gown the justice that Idina would have. Likewise, the Tadashi Shoji gown would have simply stunned on the singer and she would have looked like she stepped straight out of "Frozen" while still being on trend. Finally, the Monique Lhullier is a different more subtle look that would have been far better achieved than the look she went for above.
