The American Princess

And she's back. Just like that, the sveltest version we know of Kate Middleton is back to ruling the world and she did so in true American style. Visiting the Anna Freud Center, The Duchess of Cambridge wore a Ralph Lauren shirt dress that I think was a tad to swimming on her, but stylish nonetheless.

With her new bangs on display (she copied me), Kate was all smiles for her return to duty since having the littlest Princess of them all, Charlotte. While slightly conservative than we are used to seeing on Kate recently, the shirt dress evoked her classic style while still remaining flirty and effortless.

The People's Duchess

EEP! You all know how much I love ASOS. I mean, it's borderline obsession. I'm constantly posting outfits, dresses and pieces from the London based store and, like me, there are a legion of fans out there for the mass market retailer. Well, we can now call Kate Middleton among one of our own, as she showed up to an event today wearing this $65 polka dot dress. Freak. Out.

If this tells us anything at all, it's that you can skip the designer clothing and work with every day pieces from every day retailers. You may even look like a princess.

Check out Kate in this adorable dress below. Want it? Click the link above to get it!

The White [Future] Queen!

Behold, a noticeably pregnant Duchess of Cambridge! Fresh from her Caribbean vacation with her family, Kate Middleton was out doing her normal charity work at Ben Ainslie Racing for the 1851 Trust in this stellar belted white MaxMara coat. Fear not, the color blue was not lost on the Duchess this time as her ubiquitous blue heels were firmly on her feet. We can always count on you, Kate!

More pictures to come.

The Blue Duchess

She's out and about and looking better than before. Kate Middleton made another appearance today doing something charitable at some charity thing, and to the surprise of many (read: no one) she wore blue. This powder blue coat by Seraphine would normally irk me as juvenile, but it works so well on the 6 month pregnant Kate. Beneath the coat was a Seraphine maternity dress that was one of my favorite looks the Princess has worn in months. The dress is elegant, classy, has a bold yet subtle print, and compliments Kate in every way. It hits the knee just perfectly and has the perfect flounce; in other words. I would get it for myself, minus the pregnancy thing (#single #notaprincess).
Everything from jewelry to those ubiquitous blue shoes was on point. Welcome back Kate.

@KensigntonRoyal: All About That Hemline and that Bump

Oh hey, Kate. Nice to see you out and about in only your second appearance since your trip to New York.

The now clearly pregnant Kate-- because honestly, it really wasn't clear that she was actually with child until now-- wore this blue (SHOCKER) Madderson London dress for a school visit. Practicing her PTA skills! The dress was shockingly short for the Princess who, other than her NY visit, is known for wearing longer, knee-length hemlines. This dress is cute. Not her best, but not bad. Never bad. It does accentuate her growing belly-- if one could actually call it growing. It's more like expanding at a glacial pace. We sure so hope an actual life-size baby comes out of there and not a cabbage patch kid.

You may be wondering who exactly @KensingtonRoyal is, and I shall tell you. Yesterday, the most glorious thing happened to twitter-- the Prince and Princess and their brother Harry joined twitter. Yes, their aides and advisers will now officially be tweeting on behalf of the royal trio under that twitter handle. CAN YOU HANDLE IT?

Don't ask me who that crazy human-being is next to Kate. I don't know and I don't care.

So You Wanna Dress Like a Princess

She came. She saw. She conquered. Sure, she looked a little miffed while doing it all-- it didn't seem like Kate was particularly excited to be in New York (can we blame her-- #FiveMonthsPregnant), but she rose to the fanfare nonetheless, and she looked fabulous doing it. That's why we love her so much. And by we, I clearly mean me. It's an unhealthy obsession.

Speaking of looking fabulous, I know you loved Kate Middleton's LBD she wore her first night here. You know, the lace black dress she wore to the snazzy British dinner. Well, you may not be able to afford a Princess's wardrobe, but nobody said you can't copy it, and copy it you shall. You're welcome.

This dress from ASOS captures almost all of the elements of Kate's Beulah London dress, only it's a fraction of the price (under $100!)-- and slightly longer too! With free shipping both ways, how can you not try this one on. It's the perfect little dress for that special occasion, or for a random dinner with your Prince and a bunch of rich people in New York. Take your pick. Watch this dress on the runway in the link below to get a true idea of how fabulous this dress is and you'll see just how much like a Princess you can look.

That Time I Saw Will and Kate

I'm about to tell you a series of true stories about a night of fairytales for this New York lady.

True story-- I was just at the Met. I just saw Prince William and Kate Middleton. I stood in the freezing cold for almost an hour, but tonight a dream came true.

True story-- I got a stellar spot right in front of the famous stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. William came out of the car first on the spectator side of the street. He waved, I died. So the story goes. Kate got out on the other side, so at first my view was obstructed by the ridiculous convoy they have, but it wasn't long until I saw the beauty that is the Duchess of Cambridge in all her Jenny Packham adorned glory. She is nothing short of fabulous. And tall. Really tall. The Duke and Duchess turned around to smile and wave to the crowd. It was incredible.

True story-- the woman standing next to me and I were talking very excitedly about the arrival of the Duke and Duchess, and I told her about this here blog I have. She asked me what I think Kate would be wearing and I told her it would hands down be Jenny Packham. I win.

True story-- I was interview by the news about royal spectating. Fox 5 people. That story will never get old to me.

One last true story-- Kate and Will ascended the steps of the legendary Metropolitan Museum of Art. They were greeted by a guard of St. Andrews students adorned in red robes to welcome them to the 600th anniversary dinner and fundraiser for the University. A hush came over the crowd as the two royals greeted their welcoming party and everyone was watching the two in awe when suddenly, in my most Brooklyn-y accent ever, I screamed at the top of my lungs WE LOVE YOU KATE! I was told she heard me loud and clear. I may officially be the most un-British, crass American ever, but Kate heard me. Life=complete.

Tonight became a memory that I will be able to tell my kids, a time that I can say I saw the Prince and Princess. It's not the typical fairytale-- no, Kate is living that dream, but tonight was just a little slice of fairytale for me and it's certainly something I will never forget.

When Life Hands You a Nor'Easter, Wear a Pink Coat

And that's exactly what the Duchess of Cambridge did this morning. In true regal style, the Princess wore a fabulously expensive pink Mulberry coat (another British designer!) that was the brightest spot of color on this gloomy dark day.

Will and Kate were at the September 11th Memorial this morning to pay their respects and leave a little note and some flowers. The Duchess was dressed to perfection and basically gave the royal middle finger to this horrible weather. If there is one thing British people know how to deal with, it's rain.

This Just In: British People Meet a Basketball

Sigh. This is the most awkward photo of three people holding a basketball ever. Finally, something that Prince George can one day be embarrassed by his [almost] perfect parents for. On behalf of America, you're welcome, George.

At least the coat looks great.

Kate Middleton, Honorary New Yorker

Well HELLO.

Check out those unbelievable pants! Something tells me those insanely form-fitted-to-perfection pants are not maternity, but Will and Kate look very ready for a night in New York City! Kate wore a gray/silver Tory Burch Bettina coat to meet the Clintons at yet another fundraiser-- finally an American designer! Kudos goes to Tory Burch for snagging the honor, but I had a feeling that would be the case, as Kate has worn Tory Burch in the past. But the real star of tonight will definitely be those pants. That's a New York City pair of pants right there. I think this means Kate is officially a New Yorker.

I think it's equally important to highlight Prince William's ensemble. Plaid! I adore the gent. I mean positively adore this guy in and out, plaid and Native American belt and all. He looks like the brawny man-- it's like he got a memo on what Brooklyn hipster guys wear and decided to embrace it wholeheartedly. Looking fabulous, Wills.

I'd like to just state for the record that I am currently watching my first basketball game on TV ever. I'm dedicated to the cause, people.

The Farther from London, The Shorter the Hemline

I'm just saying, is anyone else noticing Kate's micro hemlines in NYC? The little rebel Princess is taking a more daring look in a city that never really plays it safe with fashion. If this is what Kate has to do to break the British mold, then power to ya sister! Modesty is still reigning supreme with the royal, but you can tell the Duchess is trying to have a little more fun during her American visit than her conservative motherland would normally allow. NYC will do that to you, bb, so drink that Kool Aid.

Disappointingly though, Kate wore another British designer in a nonetheless stellar coat by Goat. No doubt she'll need a good coat in this deep freeze, but a little more Americana wouldn't have hurt. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Kate is in Harlem today to wrap presents with little kiddies, and no doubt the teacher in that classroom is the luckiest woman in the world. I mean, if I could meet a princess while working for the New York Board of Education, I would say that my life was made-- Princess meeting AND a pension. Now that's what I'm talking about. Stay tuned-- there's more to come.
