Shimmery Item of the Day

You know how sometimes you just wanna get a little blinged out and shimmer and shine like it's 1999? I know, me too. Don't worry, you're in good company. This top from Piperlime is like the best thing ever. It's perfect if you are into short sleeves but would look great under a blazer or cardigan (bonus points that the design is on the front only so you won't feel like you are covering up half the shirt you paid for). It hits all the essential colors (ahem, gold) and still manages to be cute and classy. Most of all, it's pleasing to the eye with a trendy but sophisticated graphic. Click the link below to glitter and glow in this top!

Metallic Meets Dainty

I posted this Piperlime top last week and here it is for viewing pleasure. Simply adorable. It's only $70 and when you order on Tuesdays, it's 10% off. Awesomeness. Is it on your wishlist yet? I love how it could work with a summery airy skirt like this pink one below (get this whole outfit here), but it would look spectacular come autumn with a nice red or orange skirt. Hurrah for versatility!

Metallic Item of the Day

Are you in the mood to make a statement? Looking for a versatile top that goes with just about anything in your wardrobe? Behold, I present to you this metallic panel blouse courtesy of Piperlime. I am in love with this piece because this is the kind of blouse that works for a multitude of occasions and outfits; it's perfect for the office, a night out, a date, a wedding, or a holiday ensemble. It's got the soft feminine cream-colored back and sleeves with the rough and tough metallic front panel that gives just the perfect touch of rocker chick. I'm picturing this with a very bold colored skirt, if you ask me. Click on the link below to snatch up this Jekyll-&-Hyde look.

Cozy Item of the Day

One of the bummer things about winter time is it's freezing outside (and inside too, if you work in my office). What better way to combat the cold than with both cuteness and warmth. This sweater from JCrew is the ultimate in cozy, and will be perfect for a weekend excursion or a chilly office day. I'm picturing this with a great plaid or tartan skirt (if your daring), or a regular and classic pencil skirt. Pair it with a denim skirt over the weekend, and... voila: a multipurpose, awesome and adorable sweater. Plus, how great is that color blocking-- putting the lighter color by the face to lighten it up and  and the darker color down lower on the trouble spots. Genius. Huzzah!

Metallic Item of the Day

It's that time of year again! The holiday season is upon us and with Thanksgiving starting tomorrow, the Festival of Lights is not far behind. But before you get your latkes in a twist on me, you're going to want to make sure you are dressed pretty and perfect for all your holiday festivities. Enter this tank top. Obvi you  need to wear something under (or over) it like the model did with the sheer lace top, but this top is so festive and illuminating and just perfect for the holidays.Plus, it will look great year-round. It comes in a slew of sizes and can be worn in so many ways that there is no reason to say no.

Graphic Item of the Day

There is something special about an article of clothing that does all the work for you, and that's what I love about this cardigan. The print is bold and beautiful, but feminine and understated at the same time. It speaks volumes while maintaining a sophisticated edge, which is is what makes it perfect for amping up any outfit. The colors are perfect for fall, and the pattern is just graphic enough to be dressed up or down. Best of all, because the pattern is comprised of smaller graphics that make up a larger pattern, it will look great on women of many sizes; the pattern will emphasize the right parts of you and disguise the ones that you're not so fond of. All in all, this one is a keeper.

Blingy Item of the Day

Understated elegance with just a touch of fabulosity. This DKNY top is the perfect white piece for your winter wardrobe. It's got the frosty look like you walked in from a snowy night and are ready for hot chocolate and marshmallows, but is still light enough to seem light and effortless. The bejeweled collar makes for a glistening night of fun wherever you wear this top to. Three words that are not so frum, but are very appropriate given the weather: Tis the season!

Shiny Item of the Day

Could we discuss awesome for a second? I mean, I know this whole jumping from space thing is technically "awesome" Mr. Felix Baumgarten, but I want to put this blazer on the awesome qualification list. Reasons are as follows: a) the cuteness factor b) totally on trend c) it glitters (!) but it's not overwhelming d) neutral. Sequins are practically a neutral, and that taupe color is neutral perfection d) unstructured blazer means equality for all women (in the fit department-- we're still working on taking over men in the salary department. Baby steps.) e) functionality-- you can dress it up, dress it down, wear it to work, wear it to a party. Versatility at it's best. f) THE PRICE. Now that I just gave you a million (read: 6) reasons to buy this blazer, I think you should put ME on the awesome list. Hey Felix, glad to be in your company.

Floral Item of the Day

Ha. If ever there was a sweater meant for the frum girl it's this one. We frummies have a tendency to wear oversize floral items in every place imaginable; be it in the hair, on our skirts or on our sweaters, oversized botanical adornments are "our" thing, so this sweater seemed apt for an Item of the Day post. Be that as it may, this sweater happens to be freakishly adorable if you like this sort of thing. I picture this sweater with a fantabulous pencil skirt for the bootie-endowed, or a really a-line and flouncy skirt for the flirty girl in you. Either way, you will look ever the sophisticated woman with just a touch of juvenile whimsy. Can't compete with that.Remember-- we own this.

Full Outfit! Items of the Day

Oh yes. Yes, yes, yes. I LOVE when stores do all the work for me, and as always, J. Crew comes through for me. This whole outfit out together by J. Crew has me so smitten with delight that I simply had to feature the whole shebang, and not just one of the pieces. It has everything I (and you should) love in a good outfit: well fitted clothes, modest meeting points on both top and bottom, graphic prints (that are mixed!) and an an overall chic look that is ready-to-wear! The pieces are both interchangeable with other tops and bottoms from your local non J. Crew retailer, which makes these otherwise somewhat pricey items kind of worth it. The small print on top will minimize any trouble areas, while the bold graphic on the bottom should balance you out. This look is geometric, fun and classy. Be daring, be bold and be awesome in this gorgeous outfit!

Knit Item of the Day

Coziness! Name me one person in this world who doesn't love to be wrapped up in all kinds of cozy? That's what I thought-- zero. Because EVERYONE loves some good cozy time now and again, which is why I decided that this sweater needed to be an Item of the Day. Points for cuteness, points for functionality, points for color options, points for design, and last but not least, extra bonus points for being a big, mushy, cushy, pile of coziness. Picture wearing this to work, to school, on a date, out with the hubby, to a holiday party, on thanksgiving--are you getting where I am going with this? You can wear it everywhere except a wedding; you would look stupid in this sweater at a wedding. Contrasting lines and patterns spell fabulosity for this sweater (even though fabulosity is not even a word thereby defeating the whole spelling issue, but you know what I mean) so make sure you get your hands on this one!

Baroque Item of the Day

Oh yes. You know you've seen this trend everywhere the past couple of weeks, and I have a serious newsflash for you-- it's not going away anytime soon. I'm talking about Baroque-inspired pieces, with fabulously intricate, and quite frankly, grandma-esque prints that make you think 'hmm, Grandma really kicked it back in the day'. This Baroque trend has the ability to get really out of hand really quickly, but this top happens to be on the tame side, so I'm going to recommend it for your wearing pleasure. It's got style, it's got class, it's got all you can ask for in a modest top, and then some. So get on with your bad self and and get bar-OAK. Ya I went there. Sue me.

Animal Print Item of the Day

So, I am not quite sure when it was exactly that my entire wardrobe became J. Crew, but there is a solid 30% of my closet that is dedicated just to J. Crew skirts alone. You can't see me, but I'm patting myself on the back right now, mostly because I have accomplished this without ever paying close to full price on a single item at J. Crew. I stick it to the man.

With that said, check out this top on sale (for an extra 30% off using code LOVEIT) that is essentially a neutral. Animal prints are basically the new khaki-- you can wear them with anything, so this blouse is kinda a basic for you. It knows no season, so it will really transcend time, and the modesty factor scores points in all areas. Plus, name me one woman who doesn't look fierce in an animal print no matter size or shape. And lastly, any item that has the word silk in it should automatically be in your wardrobe. Glad I could help feed your addiction to J. Crew (and by yours, I mean mine).

Leather Item of the Day

Happy Fashion Week, ladies! In honor of this most awesome-est of occasions, I decided to deliver a completely bad-ass but affordable top that is sure to turn a few heads. You gotta love Zara for retaining that European look in an American society, and this blouse with leather appliques speaks for itself. It has a brazen look to it with the leather, but is still soft and feminine in the way the design cascades down the shoulder. Leather is one of the hottest trends for the fall season (and I'm sure we'll be seeing quite a bit of it on the Spring runways in the coming days, too), so this would be a perfect top to pair up your New Year's skirts with! What better way to kick start the Jewish New Year, than with a truly killer top!

Be sure to check back with The OAK for your favorite modest fashion week coverage!

Silky Item of the Day

Don't you just LOVE a good silk blouse? Don't you just LOVE color?  Don't you just LOVE Ryan Gosling? Well, then you will LOVE this blouse. I know what you're thinking-- what does this have to do with Ryan? Everything ladies...everything has to do with Ryan. But as for the bolouse, I adore thisone. It's in quite the interesting colors; one is a muted green that would work fabulously as a neutral in the fall, and the other is in a bright purple which will certainly brighten up any outfit.

The best part is that J. Crew is giving an additional 30% off all prices marked in red, so this shirt is only $49. Just use the code MUSTSHOP to claim the discount. Woohoo!

Patchwork Item of the Day

Hello cuteness!! This is quite possibly the most adorable and endearing sweater you can have for the upcoming fall and winter seasons. I absolutely LOVE the heart patches on the elbows of the sweater which are not at all juvenile; this sweater has a certain whimsy to it, no doubt, but the classic black and gray sweaters are only enhanced by the cute little surprise when you turn around, or flex your elbow. It can really drum up an outfit's unexpected cool factor, and since the detail is limited to the back, It would be cool to pair with a print bottom, or something really bright. Bottom line, you don't have to get too risky with this piece to take the risk. Prepare to be chic and adorable.
