Modest Hollywood

Oh Modest Hollywood, you never cease to amaze me. The amount of celebs who have been embracing the modesty trend is astounding and impressive for 2013. In a world where bare midriffs reign supreme, these ladies are the bees knees in attire and class. Mama always said that less is more and these ladies certainly prove that the old adage is true. So what can we take away from this fantabulous run-down of modest ladies? COLOR. I know that New York certainly hasn't gotten the message, but it is officially spring, so gone be the days of chunky monochrome sweaters and neutral tones-- it's time to dress in technicolor. Turquoise courtesy of Salma Hayek and Jessica Pare, for example? Julianne Moore is rocking a stellar purple, and Kourtney Kardashian and Katy Perry embrace the blues in their lives, Rita and Rebel are red hot,  and Julianne Hough gives orange a good name. And if color's not your thing? Wear white! Don't fear it-- thanks go to the three Kates for that one (Hudson, Mara and Middleton). Your spring and summer trends have officially begun. Now go.

Modest Wedding Gowns For The Modern Bride

So, I guess we can thank Kate Middleton for ushering in the trend of the modest bride, cuz honey child, sleeves are in! More and more wedding gowns are coming with sleeves already attached (novel idea, no?), and it's making it easier and easier for modest women everywhere to get bridal gowns that don't need to be completely altered to meet modest specifications. Gone can be the days of choosing a strapless, sleeveless wedding gown and building it up--makes me kind of happy that I have yet to get myself one of these bad boys! With  these fresh-off-the-runway gowns from Monique Lhullier, Oscar de la Renta, Theia, Temperly London, and Marchesa, I see a bright and modest future in your bridal dreams. Now all of these are not necessarily perfection in the way of full on modesty, but hey, we gotta start somewhere.
